Impact vest or buoyancy aid?

An impact vest (Mystic Star, Majestic, Block; Ride Engine Empax, Defender HF; Manera REACT) cushions falls and protects the ribs. It does not necessarily replace a certified buoyancy aid: check for ISO 12402-5 on the product page. For kitesurfing, the Swiss federal inland navigation ordinance (art. 134a) requires an SN EN ISO 12402-5 buoyancy aid or a vest of at least 75 N (100 N on Lake Constance).
