The basic kit
- A kite, or two sizes to cover more wind
- A bar with its lines and release system
- A board: twintip to learn and for freeride, surfkite for waves
- A waist or seat harness
- A pump, a safety leash and, depending on the season, a wetsuit
Getting started
Take lessons before you buy: you will know which discipline you enjoy and which sizes suit you. For your first solo sessions, a versatile kite that relaunches easily, a slightly bigger twintip and a comfortable harness save a lot of time.
Progressing
Big air, waves, strapless or kitefoil: each discipline has its own gear, found in the Kites, Kiteboards, Kite Foil, Bars and Lines, Harnesses and Accessories subcategories. Send us your weight, level and spot and we will put together a consistent set-up. Delivery time is shown on each product page.

Getting started in kitesurfing: kite, board and harness
A complete kitesurf kit means a kite + bar, a board, a harness and the safety gear. Here's how to choose each piece to start.
The kite
A versatile, forgiving BANDIT is the reference to learn on. Size depends on weight and wind — ideally 2 sizes. See the kite guide →
The board (twintip)
To start, a rather large board (≈ 138–145 cm depending on weight): it planes early and forgives — you get going and ride upwind more easily.
The harness
- Seat harness: support and comfort, doesn't ride up — ideal for beginners.
- Waist harness: more freedom and mobility — for progressing riders.
Safety — non-negotiable
Bar with a quick-release, a leash, and above all lessons with a school: kiting is learned supervised — the key to safe progress.
