Paddles

SUP paddles from Indiana and Slingshot: one-piece carbon paddles, telescopic 2- and 3-piece models, kids paddles, plus spare parts (clamps, shafts, pins), bags and covers.

Which length?

Common guideline: your height plus 15 to 25 cm, a little shorter for waves, a little longer for touring. A telescopic paddle adjusts and can be shared; a one-piece paddle is lighter and stiffer, but its length is fixed.

Which blade size?

Indiana gives the blade area in square inches (In2):

• 95 In2: more power per stroke, for heavier paddlers and long glides
• 81 to 89 In2: a faster cadence and less strain on the shoulders
• 75 In2: the kids paddles (Kids and Groms)

Carbon or fibreglass? 1, 2 or 3 pieces?

100 % carbon is the lightest and most responsive; the 30 % carbon and fibreglass versions are more affordable and take knocks better. A 3-piece fits in the bag with an inflatable board, while a 2-piece is a good compromise between stiffness and transport.
