Neoprene accessories from Mystic, Manera and Ride Engine: boots, gloves, hoods, socks, tops and base layers to extend the season on Lake Neuchâtel as the water cools down.
Boots: round toe or split toe?
A round toe keeps the warmth better; a split toe holds the foot more securely and gives more board feel. Thickness guidelines:
- 3 mm: spring and autumn
- 5 mm: cold water
- 7 mm: deep winter (Mystic Supreme, Manera MAGMA)
Gloves: warmth or grip?
Five-finger gloves give the best grip on the bar or the wing. Open-palm models leave the hand in direct contact. Lobster gloves (three fingers) are the warmest: Manera designs them for the coldest days, when warmth matters more than freedom of movement.
Head and body
Hoods and caps from 2 to 3 mm, 1 and 2 mm neoprene tops to wear under or without a wetsuit, the 0.5 mm MAGMA base layer to gain a degree without going thicker, and neoprene socks for your boots.
