Which thickness for which season?
On our lakes the water goes from about 22 °C in summer to 5 or 6 °C in winter. Common guidelines:
- water above 20 °C: shorty, long john or 2 mm fullsuit
- 15 to 20 °C: 3/2 mm fullsuit
- 11 to 15 °C: 4/3 mm fullsuit
- below 11 °C: 5/4 mm or hooded 5/4/3, with boots, gloves and hood
Front zip, back zip or zip-free?
A front zip (FZ) lets in less water and keeps the heat better; a back zip (BZ) is easier to put on. Zip-free models such as the Mystic The One focus on flexibility.

From Manera: MAGMA, XTEND and SEAFARER in several thicknesses up to hooded 5/4/3, plus the CLASSIC as an entry model. From Mystic: Majestic, Marshall and Star for men, Gem, Jayde, Haven and Dazzled for women. From Ride Engine: Onsen and Elara. Boots, gloves and hoods are under “Accessories Neo”.
