📘 How to choose — your buying guide
The mast connects your board to the foil: its length and material radically change the ride.
What length?
- Short (75–82 cm): safer and easier, ideal for shallow water, learning and small waves.
- 85 cm: the versatile default, a good compromise for most riders.
- Long (90 cm+): more margin before breaching, better control in chop, at speed and upwind. For experienced riders.
Aluminium or carbon?
- Aluminium: tough and affordable, a bit heavier and softer — perfect to start.
- Carbon (incl. high modulus HM): stiff and light, direct transmission and better efficiency — to progress and perform.
Check the connection compatibility (Monobloc, plate, deep tuttle) between your mast, foil and board.

Shimmer le mât sous le bord d'attaque permet de trimmer la planche avec le nez vers le haut et t'aide à obtenir une position plus confortable et un meilleur contrôle de la planche à des vitesses plus élevées. Pousser le mât sous le bord de fuite permet de trimmer la planche avec le nez vers le bas à des vitesses plus basses (par exemple lors du pompage, du dockstart ou du downwind), ce qui permet au foil de s'engager plus tôt dans la planche. REMARQUE : les planches North et les foils sont conçus pour fonctionner ensemble dans la discipline concernée, sans qu'un shim ne soit nécessaire. Le shim de mât peut toutefois être utile lorsqu'on mélange différentes marques de planches et de foils ou lorsqu'on utilise une planche ou un foil particulier dans des conditions pour lesquelles il n'a pas été conçu.
