Tube kite (LEI): the beginner’s standard

Which kite size to choose?

The size (in m²) depends on your weight and the wind. Since the thermal breeze is often around 12–20 knots, a 9 m² covers most sessions. Many riders then add a 7 m² for windy days.

One-strut kites are light, easy to relaunch and ideal for foiling and light wind. Three-strut kites offer more stiffness and precision for freeride and jumps. To start on a twin-tip, a versatile three-strut is an excellent choice.
