F-ONE now offers two parawings: the FRIGATE 2 and the QUEST. They belong to the same family of compact wings, flown with a bar and designed for downwind, but they have very different characters. One is after upwind ability and speed, the other comfort and ease. Here is how to choose.

FRIGATE 2: upwind and fast
The first FRIGATE came in 2.5 to 4.7 m². The FRIGATE 2 comes in nine sizes from 2.0 to 6.5 m² and has been reworked in depth:
- Better upwind ability: a higher aspect ratio and more ribs for sharper acceleration and a better upwind angle, at both ends of the wind range.
- Better pumping: the extra ribs stiffen the canopy, which helps you get up on foil in light wind.
- More depower: it opens up further at the top end, and you can ride a smaller foil and board.
- Lighter: Ultra Light Ribs technology and new materials.
QUEST: comfort first
The QUEST is designed for riders who care more about comfort and downwind than about speed and the best possible upwind angle. It is slower than the FRIGATE 2, but:
- it depowers very easily and stays predictable when conditions get rough;
- it is smooth in the turns and easy to pump;
- it packs down small, thanks to a softer canopy and shorter lines;
- it leaves your hands free: the bridles connect at only two points, at the ends of the bar (A and C, with no centre B line). You can hold the bar wherever you like, with less risk of tangles.
Parawing beginners like the feel in the back hand and the easy depower on their first runs. More experienced riders get a light wing with a natural balance.
What they share
Both wings get the new Double Dynamic Bridle System, which is more direct and less prone to tangles; the Pack Assist system, which releases bridle tension while folding so the wing packs away faster; and the new vertical bar, which is more comfortable in the hand and increases depower.
Which one to choose?
- You are new to parawing, or you mainly want relaxed downwind runs: the QUEST.
- You want to get back upwind to chain runs without walking along the shore, or ride a smaller foil: the FRIGATE 2.
- You already own a first-generation FRIGATE: the FRIGATE 2 mainly brings better upwind ability, more depower and a wider size range.
On Swiss lakes, downwind runs often happen with the bise, along the shoreline: our guide to downwind foiling on Swiss lakes explains how to organise them. The wings and matching gear are on our parawing and downwind foil pages. For sizing, write to us with your weight, your foil and your lake, and we will advise you before you buy.
