Switzerland has no sea, but its lakes offer superb kitesurf and wingfoil spots. Around Lake Neuchâtel and beyond, here are the best stretches of water to ride — with their conditions and our local tips.

Lake Neuchâtel: our playground

The largest lake entirely within Switzerland is a benchmark spot in French-speaking Switzerland. The thermal breeze often builds in the afternoon, and the joran (a north-westerly wind dropping from the Jura) can deliver great sessions. Accessible beaches, a vast body of water: ideal for beginners as well as for progressing. Our shop is in Neuchâtel, Bellevaux 6, a stone's throw from the water — and you can check the wind live on our lake webcam.

Other French-speaking Swiss spots

Around Lake Neuchâtel, Yvonand, Estavayer-le-Lac and Portalban are popular with riders. Lake Geneva (e.g. Préverenges, Le Bouveret) and Lake Murten also offer nice conditions depending on the wind.

Safety and respect

Respect local rules, swimming-only zones and other water users. Always check the wind, don't ride alone, and wear suitable safety gear.

Conclusion

Lake Neuchâtel is a first-class spot for kitesurf and wingfoil. Questions about conditions or gear? Contact us — we know the lake inside out.
